Zusammenfassung
Über die Ressource „Daten“ differenzieren sich viele Unternehmen in Zukunft vom Wettbewerb. Voraussetzung dafür ist, die aktuellen Herausforderungen im Datenmanagement zu überwinden. Beispiele sind schlechte Datenqualität, redundante Datenpflege sowie die Trennung zwischen „strukturierten“ und „unstrukturierten“ Daten. Der Beitrag identifiziert Lösungsansätze hierfür und bewertet ihr Problemlösungspotenzial. Fallstudien zeigen, wie Unternehmen Konzepte der Datenzentrierung bereits erfolgreich einsetzen. „Data-Engineering“ wird zu einem Eckpfeiler des Business-Engineerings.

Die Teilnehmer der Befragung waren aufgefordert, aus einer Liste von zehn Einträgen die fünf größten Herausforderungen im Datenmanagement zu nennen, wobei der Wert „1“ die größte und „5“ die fünftgrößte Herausforderung darstellte. Bei 17 Teilnehmern ergeben sich ein Maximalwert von 85 und ein Minimalwert von 0 Punkten.
