Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff „Seltene Erden“, auch „Seltenerdelemente“ (SEE), bezieht sich auf eine Reihe von 17 chemisch ähnlichen Metallen. Davon sind 15 als Lanthaniden bekannt, die zwei weiteren sind Yttrium (Y) und Scandium (Sc). Diese Seltenerdmetalle und deren Oxide sind wegen ihrer einzigartigen magnetischen, chemischen und spektroskopischen Eigenschaften von besonderem Interesse für Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft.
