Zusammenfassung
Wie lässt sich das Verhältnis von Finanzmarkt und Öffentlichkeit bestimmen? Diese Frage wird anhand eines Finanzbereichs untersucht, in dem „Gabentausch und Markttransaktionen miteinander verbunden sind“ (Beckert 2012, S. 253), nämlich dem noch jungen globalen Markt für Mikrofinanzierung. Hier tätigen immer mehr ausländische Kapitalgeber Investitionen in Organisationen, die relativ armen Kleinunternehmern in den sog. Entwicklungs- und Schwellenländern Kredite gewähren. Neben einem finanziellen Gewinn steht für die Investoren ein moralischer Nutzen in Aussicht: Es wäre möglich, sozial Gutes zu tun, oder zumindest den Endkreditnehmern keinen Schaden zuzufügen. Allgemeiner ist Mikrofinanzierung Teil der Vision einer verantwortungsvollen Finanzwirtschaft (vgl. McKee et al. 2011, S. 1; SPTF 2012a, d). Konkret werden Z.B. entwicklungspolitische Verbesserungen versprochen, etwa der Aufbau funktionierender Finanzsysteme, ein Beitrag zur Armutsminderung oder die Stärkung von Frauenrechten (z.B. Ledgerwood 1999, S. 3-4, 37-39; World Bank 2012).
