Abstract

All metropolitan cities including Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi, which are abbreviated as Jabodetabek, have high population and demand levels. On this basis, of course, Jabodetabek became a trading center. In today's technological era, Indonesia is starting to focus on online transaction facilities. E-payment is one of the service options used by various companies, businesses, and merchants through applications. The primary objective of this research is to investigate the factors that influence user’s intention to adopt electronic payment services through the TAM Model. A total of 165 of Generation Z in Jabodetabek participated in this research and were chosen by using a purposive sampling method. The data were collected through descriptive-quantitatively (questionnaires) and analyzed through structural equation model. The findings showed that Generation Zʹ intentions to adopt e-payment had a positive relationship with perceived security (t = 3.761, p = 0.000), perceived ease of use (t = 5.872, p = 0.000), perceived usefulness (t = 11.367, p = 0.000), perceived satisfaction (t = 5.034, p = 0.000) and had a negative relationship with perceived risk (t = 2.173, p = 0.030). This research is unique as it includes one main proponent for mobile payment systems (perceived risk) that was missing in the previous model. Hence, this research would aid in the development of a better model and would be beneficial to e-payment companies and developers in offering better applications that recognize customers’ intentions and the requirements that they truly desire.
