Abstract
Picturebooks introduce children to English in a natural, authentic, age-appropriate and engaging way and provide a meaningful context for language learning and use through the topics and themes of the narrative. The global pandemic provided the catalyst to reimagine picturebook pedagogy by exploring ways to exploit video picturebook read-alouds for online Primary English Language Teaching (PELT) purposes. A pedagogical framework has been created which enables innovative e-learning materials design and global access to quality authentic children’s literature. This chapter highlights this process in order to support teachers when exploiting video-recorded read-alouds of their own selection.
