Abstract
This chapter seeks to address the legacy of neoliberalism from a health perspective. While there is extensive literature on this legacy and its impact on public health more generally, its objective is to investigate neoliberal policy processes and the impact of reforms on the provision of quality public health care services. Drawing on neoliberal literature and interdisciplinary health care analysis, this conceptual chapter begins by defining neoliberal policy from a country and sectoral basis. It then assesses how neoliberal policies have fundamentally changed the provision of health care in Britain. It then analyses the impact of neoliberal policies on healthcare provision and health outcomes. Finally, it will underscore how the current Covid-19 pandemic has exposed a certain number of weaknesses in the British neoliberal model.
