Abstract

Micromobility has recently gained great interest all over the world, mainly due to the electric scooters’ services. This new transportation system concerns the use of shared e-scooters for urban routes supporting urban mobility in a flexible and economic way. This paper focuses on recognizing the best practices of the operation of e-scooter services across Europe in order to capture lessons learnt and point out the sustainable and most efficient way to operate such services. Based on a questionnaire survey circulated in a number of EU contacts and organizations, the best practices of e-scooters’ operation were identified. This research was conducted in the framework of the Greek national project NEMO that aims to introduce e-scooters in the island of Rhodes, Greece.
