Abstract

After the fault of power system components, timely and accurate location of the fault point, and quickly remove the fault and repair, can effectively improve the security and reliability of power grid operation. The wide area measurement information is introduced into the system. Through the comprehensive judgment of the real-time information of the whole area, the fault can be quickly located and the fault components can be removed, the fault influence area can be reduced and the relay protection performance can be improved. This paper presents a fault location algorithm based on clustering analysis. According to the principle of wide area current (power) differential, judge whether there is fault in the protection zone, and gradually reduce the scope of the protection zone, so as to finally lock the position of the fault element. For multi node system, according to the principle of voltage fault component, the system is preliminarily located, which greatly improves the speed of fault location. Finally, PSCAD software is used to simulate and analyze the influence factors in each link of fault element location algorithm.
