Basic Biographical Information
Ernesto Tabío Palma was born on September 29, 1911, in the town of Santiago de Las Vegas, Havana; he died in the city of Havana in 1984. His first studies were carried out in a state school in his hometown. After that, he completed his primary education at Colegio La Salle in the neighborhood of Vedado. In 1928, he entered the Institute of Secondary Education in Havana. He was very fond of aeronautics, and that is why, in 1935, he began working at the National Observatory where he became head of the department. In 1939, he was appointed as meteorology teacher in the Naval School and in 1940 as meteorology teacher at the National Academy of Civil Aviation (Graciella Tabío comunicación personal 12 de Sept. 2011).
