Abstract
This chapter summarizes the most important basics of the theory of polynomial matrices, which are necessary for understanding the essential content of the book. It basically contains well-known material, but is presented in a form adapted to the purposes of this monograph. Familiarity with the material in this chapter allows a less prepared reader to obtain the necessary information from mathematics without referring to special literature.
