Pediatric and Adolescent Urologic Imaging

Abstract

Imaging of the pediatric and adolescent scrotum is common following the presentation of various complaints such as pain, swelling, or masses. Ultrasound and MR are the two most common imaging modalities. A working knowledge of the anatomy of the scrotum and its contents including the testis, epididymis, and spermatic cord is important to better understand the imaging findings and to relate them to the clinical history and physical examination. We present the clinical and imaging findings pertinent to acute scrotal pain, inflammatory processes, trauma, malignant and benign masses, swellings of the spermatic cord, and paratesticular processes.
