Zusammenfassung

Ursache der mesenterialen arteriellen Verschlusskrankheit in der westlichen Welt ist überwiegend eine generalisierte Arteriosklerose. Sind alle drei Hauptarterien relevant betroffen, führt dies in der Regel zu abdominellen, postprandialen Symptomen, deren ätiologische Zuordnung oft erst nach jahrelanger Latenz erfolgt. Die Revaskularisation stellt die einzige kausale Therapieform additiv zu einer begleitenden medikamentösen, sekundär-präventiven Therapie dar.
