Definition
Vascular stabilization stands for the basic steps of the morphogenetic processes, finally leading to vascular maturation such as establishment of inter-endothelial contacts, development of a regularly structured basement membrane envelo** both endothelial cells and pericytes, and integration of one layer of peri-endothelial cells (pericytes or smooth muscle cells) into the vascular wall.

Normal Vascular Hierarchy
The adult vascular system is hierarchically organized in large, middle sized, and micro vessels at both the arterial and venous sides. The lumen of all blood vessels is lined by endothelial cells (EC).
