Abstract
Electron Spectroscopic Imaging (ESI) was performed on a polyethylene specimen and on the poly(styrene-b-2-vinylpyridine) blockcopolymer to obtain information about the microstructural organization. Polyethylene samples were treated with CiSO3H or RuO4 prior to cutting ultrathin specimens. The local distribution of different staining agents was investigated by electronic micrography of specific, inelastically scattered electrons. Ultrathin sections of poly(styrene-b-2-vinylpyridine) were quaternized with CH3I-vapour to yield specific countrasts.
