Abstract

To improve the transmission efficiency of three- and four-coil wireless power transmission systems over medium-range distances, a three-turn spiral resonant coil with a high quality factor is designed to replace the conventional mosquito resonant coil. The resonant coil operates at around 27 MHz and has the resonant characteristics of a series LC circuit. The research results show that, compared with the conventional mosquito three-coil WPT system, the spiral system has a more stable operating frequency and higher transmission efficiency over medium-range distances. Moreover, when the distance is 70 mm, the transmission efficiency of the spiral system remains above 30%, whereas that of the mosquito system is only 20.8%. Compared with the conventional mosquito four-coil WPT system, the spiral system has a stronger magnetic coupling. The results provide a new scheme for the selection of resonant coils in three- and four-coil WPT systems.
