Abstract

This chapter offers a brief overview of the book’s contents. Twelve chapters focus on the regional level of analysis in order to argue that this level of analysis is both underdeveloped and deserving of more study. Substantively, the additional foci of the chapters centers on political conflict in the first half of the book and sources of order in the second half.

Notes

  1. 1.

Nonetheless, this book should be viewed as a follow-on to Thompson et al. (2022) which is also focused on comparative regional analysis.

  2. 2.

It seems also fair to say that most scholars who study specific countries are most comfortable studying single states, either their own or one somewhere else. Regions might involve tracking 10–20 or more states and not everyone wants to take that challenge on.
