Abstract

Extraction of textual information is a very fundamental step in the domain of information retrieval, searching, editing, documenting, archiving, or recording the appearance of text. Appearance of text means text information is embedded in the image. Textual information can be obtained from various forms like scanners, magazines, newspapers, etc. In this survey paper, an elaborative review on text extraction is given, which includes different classifiers, feature extraction and segmentation techniques.
