Chylothorax in lymphoma: Mechanisms and management

  • Chapter
The Teaching Cases from Annals of Oncology

Abstract

Chylothorax is an uncommon and poorly described complication of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma of any histological type or grade. Though patients usually have extensive lymphoma, supra-diaphragmatic disease is not always present. This serious medical complication may not be evident at time of diagnosis. It often becomes a chronic problem, and its course does not reflect the successful treatment of the underlying lymphoma.
