Abstract
Initially a mainly European affair in 1958, the Symposia on Insect-Plant Interactions have developed into an international forum where researchers in both fundamental and applied entomology can meet with other scientists. It was a great pleasure for the Organizing Committee of this 8th Symposium to welcome over 180 participants from 26 countries from all over the world: unfortunately, contributions from the develo** countries fell short of expectations.
