Abstract
In previous papers (1,3) we have shown that a distinct acrosomal maturation process occurs as sperm move down the epididymis in some but not all Australian marsupial species. We first described this process in sperm of the Australian Brushtail Possum, Trichosurus vulpecula (1), and in attempting to explain its occurrence we examined acrosomal development during spermiogenesis in this species(2).
