Abstract
Hexarthra bulgarica was found in 16 of the 37 high mountain lakes (over 2500 m) studied in the Sierra Nevada (Southern Spain). These populations resemble closely the subspecies H. b. canadensis. Data on the morphology and ecology of the Sierra Nevada populations are given, and these are compared to published information on the three other subspecies of H. bulgarica.
