Samenvatting
Onderzoek onder tweelingen laat zien dat eenzaamheid voor een deel ook een genetische component heeft. Dat is vooral zichtbaar in het functioneren van het brein. Verschillende neurotransmitters spelen mee in processen van het brein die kunnen bevorderen dat jeugdigen zich eenzaam voelen. Daarnaast zijn er ook in aanleg aanwezige persoonlijkheidsdisposities die de eenzaamheid kunnen bevorderen: te veel temperament, te sterke ongeremdheid, te weinig veerkracht en te veel gedragsinhibitie en gedragsactivering.
