Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk gaat in op de raakvlakken tussen logopedie en tandheelkunde. We bekijken hoe de spraak tot stand komt. Hoe en welke spraakproblemen die het vaakst voorkomen kunnen ontstaan door een malocclusie in de tandenbogen of door een afwijking in de gebitselementen. Verder wordt een mogelijke oplossing geboden aan patiënten die spraakproblemen ervaren na een rehabilitatie van de maxilla met een vaste structuur op implantaten. Deze therapie bestaat onder meer uit het creëren van meer ruimte voor de tong tijdens de spraak. Er wordt ook een voorbeeld gegeven hoe spraakproblemen opgelost kunnen worden bij een overkap**sprothese in de maxilla op implantaten. Tandartsen en logopedisten zouden vaker moeten samen te werken, zodat tandheelkundig geïnduceerde spraakproblemen voorkomen en opgelost kunnen worden.
