Samenvatting

Bètablokkers worden al meer dan 30 jaar gebruikt bij de behandeling van hypertensie, angina pectoris, hartfalen, supraventriculaire en ventriculaire ritmestoornissen, migraine, tremoren, portale hypertensie en dissectie van de aorta type B. Tevens worden zij gebruikt bij de secundaire preventie na een hartinfarct, bij diabetes mellitus en voor de behandeling van stille ischemie. Het gebruik van bètablokkers is relatief veilig als men goed de werking en bijwerking van de gebruikte middelen goed kent.
