Abstract

An exciting new technological advance, Doppler Color Flow Map** (DCFM) became available for use with transesophageal echocardiography in North America during August, 1987. This new imaging modality combines (by computerized overlay) 2-D anatomic information with doppler blood flow velocity information. This new capability supplements M-mode echocardiography, two dimensional echocardiography and pulsed doppler ultrasound that have been used with transesophageal echocardiography for over six years.
