Summary

A Finite Element Method (FEM) for stability analysis of open thin-walled beam with diaphragms is presented. The contribution of the diaphragms to the beam is expressed by means of the auxiliary elastic and geometric stiffness matrices which have been superimposed into the stiffness matrix of beam element, the computation is shown to be conformed with model tests and engineering practices.
