Aspiration of tendinous calcific deposits

  • Chapter
Interventional Radiology in Bone and Joint

Abstract

Needle aspiration of tendinous calcific deposits under fluoroscopic control may be a valuable tool in selected cases of painful shoulders with chronic and debilitating pain resistant to medical treatment. This procedure is most frequently performed on the shoulder. However, it may also be carried out in certain other locations, such as tendons and joint capsules of the hip, elbow and wrist.
