Summary

This paper describes the design concept of two low speed test facilities driven by a common set of two integrated blowers. The facilities can be used separately for the study of 3D-mixing layers and unsteady flow, particularly unsteady boundary layers. The overall flow quality obtained in the test sections was investigated. The preliminary measurements of 3D-mixing layers and unsteady boundary layers showed that the present design, which is on some points unusual, was successful. The combined test facility is an example of cost-saving and space-saving integration of two experimental tasks by using a common air supply.
