Zusammenfassung
In diesem Beitrag fragen wir danach, welche Rolle digitale Infrastrukturen für die Soziologie des Wertens und Bewertens spielen. Dazu diskutieren wir erstens, welche Formen von Bewertung durch welche Formen von digitaler Infrastruktur ermöglicht werden, indem wir eine Typologie von mittelbarer und unmittelbarer Bewertung in und durch digitale Infrastrukturen entwickeln. Die Typologie stellt einen Vorschlag für eine Heuristik dar, die es ermöglicht, die unterschiedlichen Bewertungsmomente in diesen Infrastrukturen in den Blick zu nehmen. Daran anschließend gehen wir zweitens darauf ein, dass Bewertungen nicht nur durch digitale Infrastrukturen vorgenommen werden, sondern bereits in sie selbst eingeschrieben sind. Anhand von fünf Analysedimensionen zeigen wir auf, wie bereits die Herstellung dieser Infrastrukturen sowie ihre Datenproduktion, -aufbereitung, -verarbeitung und schließlich auch ihre Nutzung fundamental auf Prozessen des Wertens und Bewertens basieren.

Die Situation, die durch derartig selbstreferentielle Infrastrukturen geschaffen wird, erinnert dementsprechend an eine Simulation, wie Baudrillard sie beschreibt, in der verschiedene Repräsentationen der Welt (z. B. Daten) immer nur noch auf andere Repräsentationen der Welt verweisen, aber nicht mehr auf eine dahinterliegende Realität, und die auf diese Weise ihre ganz eigenständige Realität hervorbringen (vgl. Baudrillard 1994).

Determiniert bedeutet hier, dass sie durch ihre Formulierung festgelegt sind. Dies gilt auch für schwache künstliche Intelligenz, also z. B. selbstlernende Algorithmen. Computer können zwar unerwartet, aber nicht spontan handeln. Eine starke künstliche Intelligenz, die eigene Intentionalität und Motivationalität mitbringt, ist gegenwärtig nicht bekannt.
