Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff „Arthrose“, erstmalig verwendet vom deutschen Internisten Friedrich von Müller 1913 in London, entspricht im anglo-amerikanischen Bereich der „Osteoarthrose respektive -arthritis“ und weist bereits auf eine entzündliche Komponente dieser Erkrankung und eine Einbeziehung des Knochens hin. Die Arthrose als alleiniges quantitatives Mißverhältnis von Synthese und Abbau des hyalinen Gelenkknorpels zu betrachten — wie noch bei F. von Müller — entspricht schon lange nicht mehr dem letz-ten Stand biochemisch-pathogenetischer Erkenntnisse.
