Zusammenfassung
Für therapeutische Entscheidungen und für die Prognose sind beim Lungenkarzinom der histologische Typ, insbesondere die Zugehörigkeit zu kleinzelligem oder nicht-kleinzelligem Karzinom, und die anatomische Ausbreitung des Tumors die wichtigsten Parameter. Bezüglich der anatomischen Tumorausbreitung ist zwischen jener vor Therapie und jener nach Ersttherapie zu unterscheiden. Die Bestimmung der anatomischen Ausbreitung vor Therapie wird als „Staging“ (im engeren Sinn) bezeichnet, erfolgt zumeist nach dem TNM-System und kann entweder klinisch oder pathologisch erfolgen. Der Tumorstatus nach erfolgter Therapie wird mit der Residualtumor-(R-)-Klassifikation beschrieben. Zwischen Stadium und Resektabililät bzw. R-Klassifikation bestehen ebenso Beziehungen wie zwischen histologischem Typ und Stadium bzw. R-Klassifikation.
