Zusammenfassung

Die Milzruptur stellt eine häufige Begleitverletzung bei schwerstverletzten Patienten dar. Zwar wird zunehmend versucht milzerhaltend zu operieren, doch ist die Splenektomie in vielen Fällen noch immer nicht zu umgehen [3]. Die Entfernung dieses immunkompetenten Organs ist jedoch mit systemischen Folgen verbunden, die in ihrer Tragweite vielfach unterschätzt werden.
