Abstract

We have searched for transition metal oxides exhibiting interesting electronic properties by using various preparative techniques. High pressure synthesis at 3GPa and 1200K, typically, has yielded, for example, Fe4+-oxides showing a variety of properties dominated by oxygen-hole character, SrCu2O3 and Sr2Cu3O5 containing 2-leg and 3-leg ladders, respectively, and Tl2Ru2O7 exhibiting a sharp metal-insulator transition.
