Abstract
When we first applied retrospective gating on the singleslice scanner Siemens SOMATOM Plus 4 for improvement of cardiac imaging in 1997, we did not expect the tremendous possibilities of this new, fast evolving tool for spiral computed tomography (CT). By now, we have greatly enhanced our thoughts on possible clinical settings and indications for cardiac spiral CT, and learned about some possible inherent new artifacts not known in standard CT.
