Abstract
Channel assignment is a key factor that determines the performance of a multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh network. In this paper, we propose a centralized quasi-static channel assignment scheme that aims at improving the network throughput by jointly addressing two important issues. Specifically, our proposed scheme intelligently selects channels for radios in order to alleviate the congestion of hot spot nodes and balances the load among wireless links. In addition, the channel assignment is done in a centralized fashion so as to achieve the global optimization. Our extensive simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is able to achieve a higher throughput than that of two other widely accepted channel assignment schemes.
