Abstract
Simultaneous bidimensional spectroscopy of the circumnuclear region (12″ × 9″) of the active galaxy NGC 7331 has been obtained using an optical fibre system (2D-FIS). We have used these data to obtain the Mg2 index map of the centre of this galaxy. A radial variation from 0.32 (centre) to 0.25 (r = 6″) was found, which supports the hypothesis that there has been large-scale star formation at the centre of NGC 7331.
