Abstract
Steatosis (fatty change) is a relatively common finding in liver specimens. A small amount (no more than about 5 %) is not considered pathologic, but larger amounts are often attributable to a disease state. In most circumstances, the steatosis collects in a zonal fashion, starting in zone 3 and working its way into the rest of the lobule.
