Summary
The detailed environment of the pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) in glycogen Phosphorylase b, obtained from the 1.9Å resolution refinement of the crystal structure, is described together with a summary of the results from the structural analyses of three derivative Phosphorylases reconstituted with modified cofactors. We briefly comment on the contribution of the structural studies to our current understanding of the role of the cofactor in catalysis and control.
