Abstract
The National Malaria Eradication Programme of India is the world’s largest disease eradication programme. The programme was launched in the year 1958 and covers a population of 547 million of the total estimated 562 million population in 1972. The remaining 15 million population live at high altitudes where there is no malaria transmission. The programme is implemented through 393.25 N.M.E.P. Units.
