Landscape Patterns in a Range of Spatio-Temporal Scales

Part of the book series: Landscape Series ((LAEC,volume 26))

Abstract

The chapter focuses on methodological basis and methods of multidimensional statistical analysis in landscape research. We demonstrate the opportunities to use information on variance of the relief properties and multispectral reflection for evaluating fractions of the spatial variance of landscape attributes measured in the field. On this basis, we established a limited number of linear combinations of measured properties that are mutually independent and physically explicit variables that allow explaining spatial differentiation of most properties to a large extent.
