Abstract
In macro- or whole-body autoradiography, labeled sub-tances in the organism are made visible by preparing sections of whole frozen animals and exposing suitable film against these sections. Organs lying in the surface plane will show up on the film to a greater or lesser degree, depending on the concentration of the administered substance in the tissues. The method as usually practiced furnishes semiquantitative results, and because the findings are plainly visible it is a valuable aid in tracing labeled and even water-soluble compounds in biological systems.
