Memorial Tribute to Dr. Christopher Tietze

Abstract

I am honored to join this distinguished gathering of friends, colleagues, and other participants at the “Christopher Tietze International Symposium on the Prevention and Treatment of Contraceptive Failure.” I myself am a friend and colleague of many years’ standing. I realize that the professional and personal aspects of my memories will inevitably overlap and that neither can stand alone when dealing with a man of Chris’s many qualities and gifts. Still, I will try to impart some historical facts and some probably lesser known components of his personality—his warmth and loyalty, his total readiness to give, be it advice, ideas, slides, rare books, or whatever else was needed, and his delightful sense of humor.
