Bacillus Cereus Outgrowth “Early Proteins” and Their Possible Role in Control of Transcription

  • Chapter
Control of Gene Expression

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 44))

Abstract

When dormant spores of Bacillus cereus are heat activated and then exposed to germination inducers, transcription is initiated and is followed by the synthesis of a small number of protein species (1). If, in addition to germination inducers, other necessary nutrients are added to the medium, the rate of RNA synthesis increases and the sequential appearance of protein species is observed (2). It has been shown that the sequential synthesis of these protein species is controlled on the transcription level (3).
