Abstract

Proper antibacterial therapy demands appropriate duration and concentration of antibacterial agents at the foci of infections in the body so that effective disinfection can occur. The necessary vital processes of the body impede the drug’s absorption, dilute it into various volumes of distribution, bind it to plasma proteins, tissues and red blood cells and remove it from the body by metabolic and excretory routes so that the drug’s effectivity is diminished.
