Abstract

Dentists, prosthodontists, and dental hygienists may play an important role in the care of patients with an oral malignancy. Before any type of treatment is instituted, the patient should be seen by a dentist or prosthodontist who is acquainted with the specific problems related to the treatment of oral cancer. Additionally, establishing a good relationship at this stage is extremely helpful both for the patient and the dentist. The patient’s own dentist should be contacted and correctly informed when dental treatment is required.
