This book comprehensively discusses the methods and practices for evaluating geochemical processes in aquifer groundwater. Possible occurrence and mechanisms of rock-water interaction, trace metal mobilization, thermodynamic explanation, actions of aquifer CO2, pollution sources, geogenic influencing factors, and isotope dilution methods are the primary areas of focus. These water quality variables are analyzed using a variety of logical/theoretical explanations, statistical techniques, and experimental procedures to determine the suitability of groundwater for drinking, irrigation, and other industrial purposes. The work is an important addition to hydrogeochemical literature since many existing indexing methods for the assessment of water quality are very old and have some degree of limitation. About the author
D​r. M. S. Islam is specialized in Geochemistry, Hydrology, Water Chemistry & Quality, Water Quality Indexing, Climate Change, Risk Assessment, and Geostatistics.
He has a strong academic and research background in environmental science. Dr. Islam graduated with 1st class Honor’s and 1st class Master’s degree from the Department of Chemistry, University of Chittagong, and was recently awarded Doctoral degree in Environmental Science from IES, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. He has a rich publication record that includes books, book chapters, and numerous famous journal papers. From 1999, he engaged in teaching, administration, research, etc. as a member of Bangladesh Civil Servies (BCS). Dr. Islam attended several national and international conferences and delivered his research works.
