Polaron Effects Induced by Interface Phonons in Thin Films on Ionic Substrates

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics Aims and scope

Abstract

The effective parameter of electron‒phonon interaction in a semiconductor film on ionic substrates is determined. It is shown that interface phonons transfer the polarization of a medium from the substrate to the film. It is found that the energy of polaron bonding and the effective mass of the carrier can differ by tens or even hundreds of percent in the same film on different substrates. Conditions for obtaining strong interaction in different films are established.
