Abstract

The organic geochemistry of 56 source rock samples from Qaidam Basin, Subei Basin, and Sichuan Basin was analyzed. The results show that the inhibition of sterane isomerization exists in the salt water sedimentary source rocks of Subei and Qaidam Basins and the coal-measure source rocks of Sichuan Basin. The maturity of samples from different basins in the study area is different, and their sterane isomerization characteristics are also different. In addition, the biomarker composition and regular sterane isomer distribution of source rocks in Subei Basin are similar to those in Qaidam Basin but completely different from those in Sichuan Basin. Generally speaking, the inversion of sterane isomerization in Triassic coal measures in Sichuan is affected by the maturity, and the inhibition of sterane isomerization in Subei and Qaidam Basins is affected by biogenic and sedimentary environment.
