Abstract

The effect of differential rotation on the equilibria of self-gravitating filaments has been examined for isothermal and logatropic equations of state (EOS). Parametric regions for existence of solutions and upper limits for \(\frac{T}{{| W |}}\) (the ratio of the rotational kinetic energy to the gravitational potential energy) have been worked out for the different laws of rotation. Effect of magnetic field has also been discussed.
