Overview of the diagnostic process for psychological comorbidities in pulmonary diseases

Zusammenfassung

Chronische pneumologische Erkrankungen wie beispielsweise die chronisch obstruktive Lungenerkrankung (COPD) oder interstitielle Lungenerkrankungen (ILD) können aufgrund des progredienten Krankheitsgeschehens bedeutende Konsequenzen für das psychische Wohlbefinden der Betroffenen haben. In diesem wissenschaftlichen Beitrag wird eine Übersicht über die Diagnostik psychischer Begleitsymptomatik bei chronischen pneumologischen Erkrankungen dargestellt, um ein tieferes Verständnis für die Assoziationen zwischen körperlicher und psychischer Gesundheit zu fördern. Darüber hinaus erhalten Praktizierende auf dem Gebiet der Pneumologie eine Übersicht über valide und reliable Messinstrumente, um die psychische Gesundheit von PatientInnen objektiv zu erfassen und ggf. spezifische Behandlungen ableiten zu können.

Abstract

Chronic pulmonary diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial lung diseases (ILD) can have significant consequences for the psychological well-being of those affected due to the progressive course of the disease. This scientific article provides a comprehensive overview of the diagnostics of psychological comorbidities in chronic pulmonary diseases to promote a deeper understanding of the relationship between physical and mental health. Moreover, practitioners in the field of pulmonary medicine are provided with an overview of reliable and valid measuring instruments to objectively assess the mental health of these patients and, if necessary, to derive specific forms of treatment.
